Medical Services & Procedures

Pain Management is a form of conservative therapy that we provide to our patients before considering any surgery.  Each patient is evaluated and given a personalized treatment plan specific to their needs.

Emergency Medical Condition (EMC)

EMC is otherwise known as the emergency medical condition. When you are injured in a car accident, your injury could be considered as an emergency medical condition. If it is, you could receive more PIP than you would if it was deemed a non-emergency medical condition. After your accident, you must visit the doctor within fourteen days. From here, we will determine if you have an emergency medical condition.

Ultrasound Guided Injections

Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive technology that helps pinpoint the muscle locations requiring relief. The injections are a natural anti-inflammatory medication with the gentle pain reliever lidocaine. The result is an improvement in the muscular and nerve-based disarray, along with increased blood flow which returns healthy levels of oxygen to the site.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger point injections are able to get medication directly into the muscle knot and can often release the spasm immediately. These injections work best in a series, as it can take multiple injections to reset the length tension curve of the muscle, and retrain it to remain in the lengthened state. There is a positive accumulative effect with each treatment.

Epidural Steroid Injection

Patients with several common conditions – including lumbar disc herniation, degenerative disc disc disease, lumbar radiculopathy, sciatica, lumbar spinal stenosis, postherpetic neuralgia and facet/synovial cysts – may benefit from an epidural injection. Corticosteroids are strong anti-inflammatory medications and, when placed into the epidural space, can significantly reduce inflammation around an irritated nerve that is causing back and leg pain and discomfort. This injection is an effective nonsurgical treatment in itself or may aid in surgical planning.

Peripheral Joint Injections

Conditions like arthritis, bursitis , tendinitis, and others can cause pain in the peripheral joints. This minimally invasive procedure that delivers pain-relieving medication directly to the joint.

Botox for Migraines

Botox is FDA approved for chronic migraines which means headaches on 15 or more days a month. Botox is injected around pain fibers that are involved in headaches. Botox enters the nerve endings around where it is injected and blocks the release of chemicals invoiced in pain transmission.  This prevents activation of pain networks in the brain.

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

This is minimally invasive procedure that uses a specialized radiofrequency needle to ablate, or destroy, targeted spinal nerve endings. The heat generated from the radio waves damages this nervous tissue, preventing the nerve from transmitting pain signals. With radiofrequency ablation, significant pain relief may be achieved for several months.

Traumatic Brain Injury

Some of the health problems that result from a moderate or severe TBI may be prevented or lessened. Getting help with these lifelong issues, also known as chronic disease management, is crucial for improving the lives of persons living with a TBI.
